The Cribs – ‘We Were Aborted’

4 January 2012

The Cribs recorded the album span class=”text3″>Ignore The Ignorant with producer Nick Launay at Seedy Underbelly Studio in Los Angeles in the summer of 2009. Appearing on span class=”text3″>Later With Jools Holland, they played ‘We Were Aborted’, ‘We Share The Same Skies’ and ‘Cheat On Me’ on 2 October 2009.

Their big choruses and authentic raw charm are still abundant, with Ryan Jarman ranting about “mid-shelf masturbation” on We Were Aborted, but Marr’s guitar adds gravitas to the adrenalised indie. With his chiming chords as a safety net, the uncompromising Cribs let their songs breathe, allowing for the intriguing introspection and languid vocals of City of Bugs, the Blur-evoking elegance of Stick to Yr Guns and the vulnerability of Last Year’s Snow.
