Johnny Marr interview with Radcliffe and Maconie on 6music
Johnny Marr chatted with Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie on BBC 6music today and played two songs from the newly “restored” Smiths albums. Johnny is very happy with the remastered songs. “It says remastered by Johnny Marr…but I realize that the word restored is probably more appropriate, more of a restoration project, or process. Because I didn’t add anything. Remastering sounds mysterious, like you know, you sorta tighten it up. But actually I was taking off a lot of nonsense that was put on there…Basically when cds came out in the late 80′s, they’d just been sorta jack upped with loads of top end, and hardly any bass and everything…So I made it really, really natural…”
The Healers have been revealed. They are James Doviak who was the music score assistant to Johnny on The Big Bang and a “killer guitarist”, Max James who played bass with Laser Dream Eyes and Andy Knowles who played drums with Fiery Furnaces and keyboards with Franz Ferdinand.
